We Are the Vendattas, a Brief History

The Vendettas at the Stephan Talkhouse

I played in the Hackensack Men most of my adult life. When I finally left the band in 1999, I had in my head what kind of band I wanted my next project to be. Something smaller, lighter on its' collective feet, and quicker to respond to direction. If playing in a 10 piece R&B band was like driving a tractor trailer, I wanted a sports car, or at least a Dodge Dart.

I wanted to be in a band like The Blasters, or Reverend Horton Heat, and The Stray Cats or all of them rolled up into one. I wanted to play basic rock and roll, bunch of rockabilly and a little bit of blues thrown into the mix.

I reached out to people I had played with in the past to get started (a musical family tree would be good here) and after several false starts and five bass players later, The Vendettas were born. Our first show was a house party at Christmas time two years ago.

We are having a great time playing. We want to meet more people who want to hear and play this kind of music. If you have suggestions for songs we could do, venues we should play at or other bands we should know, please let us know.
